In Missouri, all motorcyclists must carry liability insurance. If you are ever found at fault in a motorcycle accident, this kind of coverage will help cover the costs of other drivers’ injuries and damages to their property.
You must have coverage of at least 25,000/50,000/25,000 to ride a motorcycle in Missouri. The first amount is the maximum amount your insurance will pay per person after a motorcycle accident that is your fault. The second amount is the maximum total that the insurance company will cover after an accident. The final number is the maximum amount that a motorcycle insurance company will pay for property damage after an accident caused by the policyholder.
So if you’re at fault in a motorcycle accident in Missouri, and you only have the minimum amount of liability coverage, this means that your insurance company will pay medical costs of up to $25,000 per individual for any injuries they have suffered. If two people are injured in the crash, the insurance company will pay up to $50,000 to cover their injuries. If more than two people are injured and their costs exceed the $50,000 total, you’re on the hook for those costs.
Finally, the insurance company will pay up to $25,000 for any damages to the other driver’s vehicle or property in a crash.
